Hello!
I'm Aaroh Jain, a 2nd Year in Materials, and I'm running for treasurer this year! I was born in India but I've grown up in the Republic of Ireland since I was one year old so I am in the weird overlapping portion of a Venn diagram between both cultures. I'm very passionate about Materials and I love to roller-skate! I also can be found in the ICRS Lab 3D printing bits and bobs I design or find online!
I've not been committee for MatSoc, despite enjoying many of their events in the past, so I thought its about time to get involved. I've really enjoyed activities like Ceilidh in Autumn Term during my 1st year (still the most fun I've had dancing since!) and the New Year's Dinner karoake (I never knew Eleonora could sing so well!). After all that, It feels like it's my time to give back to the community.
I'm running for treasurer because I'm comfortable and enjoy working with numbers, budgets and all those boring bits of admin that people generally don't like. I find it really satisfying trying to make every penny count. I hope with enough oversight and smart decisions, we can save enough money to do a few more events/initiatives (more snacks for example).
I really do enjoy our course and community (everyone is so much friendlier than I ever imagined) so I thought it would be nice for me to help out and try to give back. Thanks for reading!
