Hello fellow materials people

I’m Asher, a second-year, and I have the pleasure of being your current Matsoc treasurer. I’m re-running for this coming year to continue all the good work we’ve done. Our annual dinner this year was a smashing success, our lunchtime lectures are consistently fantastic, and we’ve got even more great events lined up next term.

But we can always improve: If re-elected, I’ll lobby the department and the RSMA for more funds to not only let us run more events, but be able to fund more seats at our annual dinner, fund more (and better) drinks and provide better academic opportunities. Our industry sponsorships have been thin this year, but next year I’ll focus on connecting with even more materials-focused companies (Rolls-Royce, McLaren, Alpine, Heidelberg Materials, UKAEA etc.) to provide more funds for our events and more opportunities to connect with industry professionals. As a smaller course, I think it's really important that we run collaborative events too - next year I'll make sure we've got some good pub crawls, socials and more lined up that are run with different departments across uni.
