Sailing: Junior Treasurer

Hello fellow sailors,
I joined ICSC at the start of my second year and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it since. The community surrounding sailing and the countless trips around the UK every term are what make ICSC special. I’m running for treasurer this year so I can give something back to the club and ensure that this club which has provided so much to me can keep on running in the future.

Maintaining Finances

  • As always transparency is first and foremost for running a successful club. People should know how much they are expected to pay through a clear and concise budget.
  • If we can get more non-squad members involved with sailing there is potential for larger grants from the union.

Issues to be tackled

  • The car crisis, the looming concern of a lack of cars next year. This is something that will need to be actively tackled.
    • Coordination with the race-captain to get drivers in every team.
    • Strengthening relationships with other London Unis (Brunel, UCL) so if we need an extra space we can get some help. Of course this is a give and take we will have to earn their help.
    • A minibus system, the club would be able to pay for people who meet the requirements to get their minibus licences.
  • An aging population, a lot of the experienced committee members are leaving imperial next year. Fostering a strong connection with the alumni is essential for the future of ICSC.
