Rong Xuan Mah

Hi everyone, I’m Rongxuan, a first-year studying Economics, Finance & Data Science. I’m running for Treasurer because I believe strong financial management is what allows a society to grow confidently and sustainably. Through my degree, I’ve developed a solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management, and I’m comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial analysis. Beyond academics, I served as Vice-President of my secondary school Photography Society, where I helped manage event budgets, work with vendors and ensure funds were used responsibly. That experience taught me that handling money is ultimately about accountability and trust.

If elected, I hope to bring greater transparency and structure to the society’s finances. I plan to provide clear breakdowns of income and expenditure for major events, implement termly budgeting so we plan ahead rather than react, and maintain organised records to ensure smooth handovers in future years. I also want to approach sponsorship more strategically by identifying relevant Singapore-linked firms, preparing structured outreach materials, and tracking conversations systematically to maximise our funding opportunities.

Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that our finances enable the society to do more for its members — whether through better welfare initiatives, stronger career-focused events, or larger flagship programmes. I will treat this role with responsibility and professionalism, thank you!
