Boat: Captain

Hello I’m Henry, if you don’t know me that’s mildly concerning. My 3 years at ICBC are some of the best of my life. I’ve thoroughly enjoy being involved in every aspect of the club; from being social sec to Captain, doing Adam’s job to organising multiple international trips, assisting novices to racing across 1st,2ndand 3rd VIIIs.

As Captain I led the club through its biggest change in 7+ years. Building on my work as social sec, developing a fun, strong, cohesive and healthy culture. Early conversations with Dave focused on how the program could delivering this, thus Thursday mornings off and improved SnC.

ICBC will race 3 times internationally this season(+HOCR). Including Amstelbeker, which I organised despite the union “being shut.” I also hope to take us to Ghent.

Results for Novices at BUCS head were great. However, we can still improve it, hence the introduction of the Novice Officer.

One of my greatest strengths has been doing the work you shouldn’t see, (approx.80% done by September) allowing me to devote myself to the needs of both squads. I’ve organised a meeting with Fieldman to establish a coxing program, something I’m pushing strongly to keep developing. Along with a specific Novice coxing program.

BUCS head showed we’re building something amazing and don’t need to change a huge amount. The aim; start finding those easy 1% gains.

What I will improve:

- Communication

- Coxes program, telemetry and video feedback

- Efficiency and boat care

- Do everything 5% better
