Larion Aklan

Hey, I’m Larion, and I’m running for President of Imperial Fencing Club. I’ve been an active member of the society for 2 years now, fencing for M2 in both years, this year as the team captain. During this time I tried to participate actively in the society's social life but also understand how to run the club smoothly, and I will aim to use this experience to make the society even better next year.

I have a couple of ideas, that I want to change.

1. Communication

- How to join, what to do, induction to kit borrowing, etc

- Weekly updates/newsletter again this year

- Match times and team selection communicated well in advance

- Announce every match on social media and encourage members to come along and watch the matches

1. Socials

- Generally more socials, eg union after trainings

- Example socials: Curry night, Armory socials - we get together, fix kits, and go pub after.

2. Fenceathlon

- Next year I want to organise a 24 hours fencing events

1. Fundraiser competition

- Hopefully we can organise a competition and invite other unis as well. The goal is to raise funds for the society.

1. Sponsors

- Try to get sponsors next year.

1. Reforming teams

- Team-wide term starting social

- Goals: 1, stronger bonding among team members & swnse of belonging etc, 2, clear introduction to matches & BUCS, etc
