Astronomy: President

Hi! This is Yibo, a first-year student from the Department of Earth Science and Engineering. You've probably seen me carrying my smart telescope during stargazing events, or browsed the photos I've taken in the WhatsApp groupchat!

Because I started with a small, all-manual telescope, I know exactly where beginners are coming from. As President, my priority is education and inclusion. In high school, I founded the Earth Science Club and personally taught students to operate a 16'' Schmidt Cassegrain. Having organised a 2-week joint A3 comet observation event in the past, I am experienced in stargazing organisation. I am also engaging with Cambridge University Astronomy Society (CUAS), finding an opportunity to share a low light-pollution sky near London. I know how to manage a society, delegate to a committee, and keep members engaged.

I will work closely with our technical officers to ensure our gear is optimized, while supporting the entire committee to run smooth, well-communicated events. Let's make stars accessible for everyone!
