Heidi Chong
Moving to London was daunting, but through ICUMS and its events, I found my home away from home. Equipped with various leadership experiences and skills like communication, teamwork, and project management, I hope to give back by fostering a supportive community where opportunities, growth, and fun create lasting memories!
Plans Overview:
Sustained external partnerships are essential to maintaining the quality and accessibility of ICUMS’ initiatives. To strengthen sponsor engagement, I propose enhancing career accessibility through a structured mentorship programme, supporting members in CV readiness, interview preparation, and career exploration while encouraging greater participation in sponsor opportunities.
To improve ICUMS’ professional presence, I aim to prioritise the creation and maintenance of an official website that serves as a central digital portfolio. This will improve visibility, streamline sponsorship discussions, and provide companies with a clearer understanding of ICUMS’ impact.
At Freshers’ Camp, sponsor and affiliate sessions will be made more interactive through structured challenges and facilitated discussions, creating stronger first impressions and sustained follow-up engagement. I also plan to expand outreach to more STEM-focused companies and explore flexible sponsorship models.
Aditionally, I will introduce a shared Outlook events calendar with different streams to subscribe to, improving event visibility, alongside targeted surveys to better time major events. Collaborations with other cultural societies will enable larger-scale, more diverse events. Finally, a seniors database will be developed to strengthen academic and social support across cohorts.
As President, I will work wholeheartedly with my team to make ICUMS a place of warmth, opportunity, and fond memories.
