Merhaba herkese! It's Eda:)

It would be such a joy to welcome new faces into this home away from home, just as I was welcomed when I first arrived. Experiencing that warmth firsthand is exactly why, as an aspiring final year Biological Sciences student, I’m running for Chair.

Having navigated the challenges of studying in a different country myself, I want to be someone you feel comfortable coming to, whether that’s to chat about Turkish music, movies, shows, or those little “boş ama hoş” things that remind us of home, or to talk through academics, internships, and the future together.

Stepping outside the four walls of the Abdus Salam Library, music has always been a big part of my life. I’m sure many of you have hobbies like this too, and I’d love to bring them into Imperial life through things like live Turkish music nights, movie evenings, and events that make our society feel even more like home.

If elected, I would love to expand our academic and professional opportunities through networking events and career talks across many different departments, so that everyone can find something that interests them.

And to our graduates and current members, don’t worry. Your traditions are in safe hands. Rakı nights, breakfasts, national day celebrations, pub crawls, and all our classic gatherings will always continue!

Finally, I hope we can continue growing together as a community while proudly following Atatürk’s path as Turkish students abroad.
