Wakako Hagiwara

Hi, I am Waka Hagiwara, and I am running for Vice President of Japan Society.

Japan Society has always been a place where we come together to enjoy culture, events, and community. I want to help ensure it continues to grow next year.

As Vice President, I will fully support the President and committee to make sure our ideas turn into organised and successful events. In particular, I want to build stronger relationships with other Japan Societies through events such as a boat party, inter-uni pub socials, and sports days.

I also want to help organise more exciting and memorable events that bring everyone together — events that are not only enjoyable but something we genuinely look forward to each term. In addition, I would love to introduce Japan Society merchandise, such as hoodies, so we can build a stronger sense of identity and pride within our community.

I will also assist with sponsorship outreach so we can secure more opportunities and resources, creating even better experiences for our members.

Most importantly, I want to continue building the welcoming and joyful atmosphere our society has while encouraging a committee that is ambitious, spontaneous, and open to feedback.

If elected, I promise to be reliable, approachable, and proactive.
