Business School (UG): Departmental Academic Representative

Hi everyone,

I’m running to be your Academic Rep because I care about how this course works for us all both academically and structurally.

EFDS is demanding. When it works well, it’s brilliant. But when communication breaks down or expectations are unclear, small fricitions can come at a large marginal cost.

Here’s what I want to focus on:

1. Lecture Engagement & Accessibility

Some modules are so fast-paced and dense that attendance in lectures drops below 20%. Whilst I know rigor is important, I believe accessibility is equally important.

When necessary, I will raise concerns around:

  • Lecture pacing and clarity

  • Whether additional support (e.g. worked examples, recap summaries, structured Q&A time) could improve engagement

The goal being for us to maximise our consumer surplus as university students.

2. Greater Clarity Around Exams

Assessment uncertainty creates unnecessary stress.

Students should:

  • Know clearly when to expect results and feedback

  • Understand marking criteria before exams

  • Be informed transparently if issues arise in the examination process (for example, adjustments following technical problems)

3. Transparency Between Students & Faculty

If elected, I want to improve communication and reduce the information asymmetry between students and faculty

That means:

  • Regular updates after academic rep meetings

  • Clear summaries of what was discussed and what actions are being taken

Representation only works if you actually know what’s being represented.

Vote for me for the most pareto efficient outcomes.

No one worse off, and everyone better off.

Thanks for your consideration :))
