"We’ve all had our own rainy days — and that’s why we want to help create shelter for others."
Hi! I’m Ziyi Liu and I’m currently a second year Electrical and Electronics Engineering student. I’m running to be your next Wellbeing Officer!
Engineering at Imperial is exciting, but sometimes things may feel a little heavier than they should — I’ve been through those moments too, and that’s why I care so much about wellbeing and how important support can be!
During the past two years, I’ve been actively involved in CGCU events, often helping behind the scenes. Through my previous leadership experiences, I’ve learned how meaningful small initiatives and genuine conversations can be in building a supportive community.
If elected, I want to introduce a wellbeing-focused peer mentoring scheme. While many departments already offer academic tutoring, there isn’t enough structured peer support when it comes to emotional wellbeing. Starting university in a new place is tough, and final years often come with a different kind of pressure. I believe matching juniors with volunteer seniors with similar experiences can make a real difference – sometimes support doesn’t have to come from formal services, it can come from someone who simply understands.
I’d also love to organize relaxed, low-pressure socials such as chill hangouts where you can genuinely switch off and recharge. Most importantly, I want to be someone you feel comfortable talking to and letting you know you’re not alone.
Let’s build a kinder, more balanced Engineering community together 💛
