I’m Yusuf, a first-year Chemical Engineering student, and I’m running for the role of Alumni Officer for CGCU.
As an engineering student, I’m very aware that what happens after we leave Imperial is just as important as what happens while we’re here. The alumni network is one of the pillars of what makes Imperial the best. It’s a way to understand different career paths, learn from people who were in our position only a few years -or a couple generations - ago, and get a realistic picture of engineering beyond lecture theathers.
As Alumni Officer, I will focus on two main priorities:
I want to strengthen the student-alumni connection. I will help organise mentoring opportunities, networking sessions, and informal Q&A events so students can ask any and all questions about careers, further study, and life. I want to turn this alumni talks a regular and interdisciplinary event.
I want to make CGCU events more accessible. Thus I will make sure information about alumni events and opportunities is shared clearly and in good time, and they are affordable. If more students know what’s happening and feel confident to attend, the benefits would be even greater.
I may be early in my degree, but I’m organised, reliable, and genuinely committed to helping CGCU students make the most of our valuable alumni network. I would really appreciate your support and your vote for Alumni Officer.
I am also eager to hear about your opinions, so feel free to drop me a message from Instagram.
