CGCU: Education Chair

Through my experience as an Academic Representative across multiple years, I have seen how structured communication between students and staff can lead to practical improvements in teaching and assessment. Academic representation works best when outcomes from students’ feedback can be seen.

I am running for CGCU Education Chair to help ensure that our existing academic representation operates clearly, consistently and transparently. Before contacting with the job, I will prefer to concentrate on three practical priorities:

First, improving the academic feedback loop. Key concerns raised by students should lead to clear actions and visible outcomes. I will support structured feedback and coordinate with departmental representatives to ensure key concerns are raised at Faculty committees.

Second, improving assessment transparency and fairness. I will work with representatives and staff to encourage clearer communication around exam scheduling and deadline distribution, promote consistency in marking criteria, and raise workload concerns constructively when patterns of deadline clustering or uneven distribution become apparent, ensuring these are discussed early instead of after escalating.

Last but not least, ensuring under-represented voices are heard. I will promote accessible feedback channels, work with representatives to identify potential barriers in academic support, and support inclusive practices within existing teaching and assessment structures.

This role requires consistency, coordination, and accountability. With established experience in academic representation and collaboration with staff, I am committed to delivering practical and structured improvements for Engineering students.

Vote for structured representation.
