CGCU: Education Chair

Hey everyone! I'm Rodrigo, the current Guildsheet Editor for CGCU. I'm a second-year CS student who's seen firsthand how clumped deadlines and unbalanced workloads affect all of us. Before you read the rest, check out the poster attached to my campaign!

As Education Chair, I want to raise academic issues directly. That means working with Department Reps to flag problems early and push for real structural changes: fairer deadline spacing, better workload distribution, and a curriculum that stays current and relevant, balancing practical and theoretical learning across courses we actually care about. Every module, every department deserves proper representation. I'll ensure no student's concern gets lost in the process.

My experiences make me a strong candidate for this role. I was awarded the John Elliot Bursary in recognition of my outstanding contribution as CGCU Guildsheet Editor — and as the first Editor to publish the Guildsheet in over three years, I know what it means to revive something that matters to students. That recognition reflects my tenacity and commitment to shaping CGCU for the better. I'm also currently undertaking a term-time UROP, which has given me direct experience engaging with Faculty staff and navigating academic structures — I understand how decisions get made, and I know how to make the student case in those spaces. I have received endorsements from CGCU President Daniel Zhuo, CGCU Education Chair Yuchen Liu, and others.

Engineering students deserve a rep who actually gets it. Vote Rodrigo for Education Chair — let's make it happen.
