RCSU: Deputy Science Challenge Chair

Hi guys! I'm Sreeja, a first-year biochemist proud to be running for Deputy Science Challenge Chair of RCSU.

I am excited to contribute meaningfully to the Annual Science Challenge competition as not only does it promote clarity and creativity in science communication, but it also helps us realize and renew our love for science in everyday life, while encouraging accessiblility by involving both the Imperial student community as well as young minds from high schools around the world.

I would love to help organise the Science Challenge by working with the Chair to introduce more broad themes that link to current issues, like 'The Butterfly Effect' this year, to incorporate the different fields of science so everyone can either engage with familiar topics, or explore other fascinating subjects outside of their usual course content. If elected, I will also ensure the competition is well-publicised across social media and improve outreach by collaborating with other universities and schools, not necessarily limited to the UK.

The Science Challenge is vital for integrating innovative ideas and scientific discussion, simplifying complex research into original media for everyone, so I plan to introduce interactive workshops to help participants in the RCSU community for tackling specific questions. I also have experience in academic writing and editing as a major contributor to my school science magazine, strengthening my science communication skills.

I would love your support in shaping the RCSU Science Challenge to encourage inclusivity, curiousity and creativity! :)
