I used to think being the wellbeing representative was a “been there, done that” role. After two years in Materials, I have grown close to the department through my course mates and interacting with plenty of lecturers. Watching my friends run as representatives and crashing out strangely only motivated me to try for departmental representative this year before my fleeting journey in university is over. I want to learn more about the inner works of the department and connect with more brilliant people in this space.
Organising activities for my current society as the chair, navigating big crowds, and communicating with people of all ages are things I am familiar with thanks to my past experiences in various leadership positions. Voicing out ideas and taking lead in initiatives are things I try to embody in my roles.
As departmental representative, I will:
- Work together with fellow student committee and management, communicating frequently with them
- Organise fun bake sales or other activities, collecting feedback often to bring even more exciting events to students
- Be available, unfortunately not 24/7, but rest assure I will not ghost you or go MIA from my duties
- Work closely with staff members involved with wellbeing aspects
I'm looking forward to learning more about wellbeing and what I can do to help others.
Thank you for considering me as your next Departmental Wellbeing Representative. To fellow Material students, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone as your next dept rep. :)
