Grace Wiggall
Hi everyone! My name is Grace, a second year Geologist and current mental health network member on a mission to create a positive impact within my time at Imperial. I have thoroughly enjoyed being your welfare officer this year, but I know my work is not done and therefore would love to have to opportunity to continue my role.
As you have probably guessed by me applying for this role, I’ve had the lived experience of navigating mental health issues and know how important it is for students to be equipped to deal with this. I passionately believe that student’s mental health should not be sacrificed just to keep up with the demands of their course and having some semblance of a social life. I equally believe that students should have access to support and not just when they hit a point of crisis.
Why me?
- I have 3 years’ experience campaigning within the specialism of young women’s mental health for Girlguiding UK; meeting with ministers, talking to press and delivering guest lectures.
My goals as your MHN member:
- Escalate issues raised by students to find solutions and ensure no student is left without adequate support.
- Bring to the unions attention changes imperial may be making that could affect students (e.g. support in halls, access to services)
- Bring awareness to the intersectionality of mental health
- Work on creating events and collaborations to improve student wellbeing
Now you've read this far, you might as well vote for me (please?)
