ICSMSU: Medical Biosciences President

Hey! I’m Lair, a second-year BMB student with HUGE goals for our course.

Previously, I’ve worked as a Year Rep and Academic Officer, leading changes like moving lab book data analysis online for LP1, extending notes from 20 to 50 pages for exams, and tons more.

But the job is not finished - academic/welfare support could be stronger, BMBSoc events can be infrequent and unstructured, and our sense of community remains weak.

That's why I’ve decided to take up this challenge. I’ve built strong relationships with staff, faculty, and BMBSoc, giving me a clear view of what needs to change, who can help, and how to get it done.

Thus, as president, I will guide BMBSoc and ICSMSU to the forefront of these issues while bringing new experiences and improvements that stick around.

What’s the plan?

Academic:

  • Q&A drop-ins and study sessions for exams and ICAs.
  • UROP, internship, and career talks with upper years, graduates, and guest speakers/companies.

Welfare:

  • Work with faculty to build pioneering and creative cohort-wide events that not only enhance community, but also show Imperial and Faculty of Medicine why our course is so special.

And much, much more:

  • Transparent feedback, structural improvements, sponsorships… Honestly, I’d like to hear from you! The potential is endless, and we can make it happen.

I may be biased, but I genuinely think we have the best Biomed course in the country, if not the world. As president, my goal is to show everyone why.

Show you care, vote for Lair :)
