Deputy President (Welfare)

Hiya, I'm Sarah - your current ICSMSU President!

It has been an absolute pleasure to advocate and represent all students with the School of Medicine this year, and it would be honour to be able to do this for the wider Imperial community. We are so fortunate to have such a strong sense of community at ICSM and it has truly been an anchor for me over these past few years. My priority would be to extend and build this sense of belonging for every student as we all deserve to have a home away from home.

My aims:

1. Affordability

  • Work with local councils to push for more affordable student housing
  • Expand awareness of hardship funds and the application process
  • Negotiate student discounts with local businesses
  • Expand provisions for a centralised student-led housing hub

2. Accessibility & Inclusion

  • Standardise lecture recordings and accessible slide formats across all departments
  • Continue step-free access, clear signage, and welfare presence at major events
  • Deliver peer-led welfare and inclusivity training to all society committees to establish positive club culture
  • Conduct a full accessibility audit of campus spaces and publish clear, time-bound improvements

3. Community & Belonging

  • Partner with local charities to create volunteering opportunities and connect students with local communities
  • Launch regular, low-cost community events to help students feel less isolated
  • Support Liberation and Community Officers with structured planning guidance to help turn ideas into action
