Sayanen Sawmynaden

Hi everyone, I am Sayanen and I am running for ICSMU Academic Officer for Early Years. Experiencing years 1 and 2 of medicine, I have been able to see the challenges that you face and having been the academic rep for both years, I have worked to help overcome these challenges. I hope to continue to make change by guiding the future years’ representatives as the Academic Officer. Having built rapports with faculty through the SSLGs, I will be able to push for change. As the Academic Officer for Early Years I hope to achieve the following:

• I aim to successfully run the CPA tutoring and mock schemes that are already in place as I have seen how impactful it has been for us in year 2. My roles in Surgical Society can help ensure these run smoothly.
• I hope to boost your involvement in the SSLGs. This year we introduced the idea of giving out donuts to learn more about SSLGs and this really increased interaction with surveys. I will make this a more standardised process. You’ll have your voices heard and free donuts!
• I will ensure all updates to the Notebank are made prior to the start of term so all revision resources are accessible.
• I will use my connections with medical societies to create a hub of revision resources so that all the resources can be found in one place.

My overall aim is to ensure you enjoy your time at med school!
