Hello everyone!

My name is Lamya, I'm a second year medic and I hope to be your Academic Officer for Early Years. As a small introduction for those who don’t know me yet, I hold controversial opinions on the POM module (it's my favourite) and I like to go caving on weekends.

Being a Phase 1b academic representative and Muslim Medics core lecturer this year, I have gained a good insight into what students in the first two years of medical school value most for their academics. Additonally, I have had the opportunity to work with members of faculty to formulate solutions to some issues raised this year. These roles equipped me with the organisation, problem solving and teamwork skills needed to be a good AOEY. As AOEY, I want to advocate for students, push for new initiatives and remove extra academic stress.

If I'm elected, here are some things I'd like to do:

• Continue current initiatives such as the second year CPA mock and keeping the Notebank up to date
• Devise a long term plan with module leads to slowly build up a question bank that will benefit future students
• Close the SSLG feeback loop by incentivising feedback on implemented changes to guage their efficacy
• Ammend timetables to even out the workload and make time for studying where it matters most

Our early years are already tough enough. Vote for me to take some of the pressure off; so you can focus on the stuff that really matters :)
