Hi, I'm Aidan and I'm running to be your JMC Academic Departmental Representative.

I was a Year Rep in first and second year, where I pushed for proper changes, leading to coursework deadlines being moved and an exam getting pro-rata-ed. I know how the department's feedback processes work, where to escalate issues, and how to get things actually done rather than just raised and forgotten.

As Dep Rep, I want to focus on:

Good Feedback on Work

• Oppose the use of AI to mark student work — if we put the effort in, the department should too
• Hold the department accountable on feedback turnaround times and quality

Deadline clustering and workload.

• Push for better coordination between modules so deadlines don't pile up in the same week
• Raise workload concerns at SSC with specific evidence from year reps

Better communication from the department.

• Make sure policy changes, deadlines, and decisions are communicated clearly and in good time
• Feed back to students what was discussed at SSC meetings so you know your concerns were heard

Supporting students who are struggling.

• Work with year reps to flag when students are falling through the cracks
• Make sure students know what support is available before they hit crisis point

I've done this job at year level and delivered results. As Dep Rep, I'll support year reps across JMC, escalate issues they can't resolve alone, and make sure the department is held to account.
