ICSMSU: Welfare Chair

Hey all! I’m Antony and I’m running to be your Welfare Chair!

Over the past year, I’ve been heavily involved in welfare and student advocacy across ICSM as the current Vice Chair for Welfare and former year 2 welfare representative. Working closely with reps and welfare teams has shown me what makes support actually work: clear signposting, consistent follow‑through, and making it easier for students to raise issues early and safely. I care about building a community where people feel listened to and supported.

If elected, I will focus on practical, visible changes:

  • Physical Activity & Connection (Including BSc Year): Promote wellbeing through movement with beginner-friendly walk/run clubs and low-barrier sessions, and introduce an annual BSc Sports Day (mixed-ability, team-based, chilled) to strengthen community in a year where people can feel more dispersed.

  • Student Voice With Visible Follow-Through: Replace “feedback goes into a black box” with a simple “You said → We did” update each term, plus open Q&A forums with reps so concerns are heard early and actions are transparent.

  • Safety & Support Culture and signposting: Improve awareness of out-of-hours support, reporting routes, and bystander resources, so everyone knows where to go before a situation escalates. I also aim to publicise information better, so there is less confusion on where to go.

My aim is simple: make welfare support easier to find, faster to access, and more responsive, so every student feels valued, safe, and able to succeed.

Thank you for reading, and I’d be grateful for your vote.
