CGCU: President

Hi everyone! I’m Marissa, a second year Molecular Bioengineering student, and I’m running to be your next CGCU President.

This year, as Wellbeing Officer, it has been incredibly rewarding getting to know so many of you and to help make our engineering community more inclusive. I truly believe no one should feel alone while navigating the pressures of an engineering degree. From puppy therapy days to monthly welfare drop ins, I have focused on creating spaces where you feel supported, heard, and able to breathe when things get overwhelming.

Now, I want to take that commitment further. As President, I will work closely with various departments and the union to push for lasting structural change. This includes dedicated rest and study spaces, clearer mental health support pathways, and real progress toward a centralised on campus engineering project space. For years, engineering students have struggled to secure a dedicated space. While the White City Advanced Hackspace has great facilities, it is not always easily accessible. I want to start laying the groundwork for a central on campus engineering hub that reflects the talent and ambition of our community.

Through open Q and As, regular forums, and honest conversations, I will make sure your voice shapes our priorities and leads to real action. Because when your ideas are taken seriously, when support is stronger, and when our ambitions are backed with results, we achieve more with Marissa.

Thank you, and I would be so grateful for your vote. 😎
