Hi, I'm Aidan and I'm running to be your CGCU President.
As CGCU Clubs & Societies Chair, I've spent this year supporting societies across Engineering. As President of DoCSoc I lead a committee of 21, and as Director of IC Hack 26 I managed an event with 140 volunteers. I know how to run large teams, deliver events, and get things done.
Here's what I'll focus on:
Events people actually want to go to.
- Refresh the events calendar - more variety, better promotion, shaped by what students actually want
- Continue with strong flagship events, but make sure not to sacrifice everything else
Better support for Clubs and Societies.
- Ensure societies get the funding guidance, event support, and responsiveness they deserve
- Co-run events with societies and pool resources instead of competing for the same audiences
Fighting for engineers on the issues that matter.
- Use the President's seats on Union Council and university committees to push on cost of living, workload, and funding
- Push for better awareness of hardship funding and wellbeing services before students hit crisis point
- Make sure student complaints are followed up on, not ignored
- Keep students informed about what's being raised and what's actually changing
Building industry and alumni links.
- Grow sponsorship to fund better events and opportunities
- Re-engage alumni networks that have gone quiet
I've spent this year making the Guilds work. Let me do it for all 5,000 of you.
