ICSMSU: Sites & Services Officer

Hi, my name is Fumnanya and I am running to be your Sites & Services Officer!

As medical students we spend long days juggling placement, revision, extra-curricular activities and everything in between which means the spaces where we study, chill, and catch up with friends really matter.

I feel passionate about collaborating with you to make student spaces more comfortable, more practical and actually designed around what students need.

I plan to establish key contacts early on who will be essential for driving change, while staying open and transparent about what’s achievable and what isn’t.

Here are some ideas of my own:

Upgrading the SAF common room with new carpet, more comfortable sofas, and better entertainment options
Improving the Glenister kitchen area with updated seating
Increasing the number of clean, working microwaves available to students
Expanding room booking options beyond the library e.g., examination rooms in CX

I will also be involved in organising merchandise! I hope to introduce new high-quality pieces that are practical and stylish as well as keeping your favourites available!

Here are some ideas of my own:

Medical student essentials such as fob watches, stationery, and notebooks
A student design competition for limited-edition merch
A “Pre-Loved Medics” recycling/swap scheme to make merch more affordable and sustainable

Across both:

Student input on improvements — regular feedback surveys and suggestion boxes/boards
