Gender Equality: Campaigns Officer

I’m running for Gender Equality Campaigns Officer because I believe gender equality is not just a goal but a continuous commitment to inclusion, safety, and empowerment for everyone across campus. My vision is to make our university a place where every student—regardless of gender identity or expression—feels respected, represented, and supported to thrive without bias or barriers. I aim to design creative, action-driven campaigns that address real issues faced by students today: menstrual equity, gender-based discrimination, safety in social spaces, and the representation of trans and non-binary individuals in university life. I want to strengthen awareness through open discussions, workshops, and collaborations with societies that challenge stereotypes and celebrate diversity.

I will work to make gender-neutral facilities and pronoun-respect initiatives a visible and normal part of campus culture. Improving campus safety, especially at night, and ensuring accountability in harassment reporting systems will also be key priorities. I believe impactful change happens when everyone participates, so I’ll ensure our campaigns are intersectional—connecting gender with wider issues like race, sexuality, and mental health.

If elected, I promise to be an approachable, proactive representative who listens, learns, and takes action. My goal is to move beyond symbolic gestures and create lasting initiatives that genuinely shift attitudes and policies. Together, we can build a campus where equality is not just discussed in meetings or campaigns, but woven into the way we study, work, and live every day.
