Saachi Jain

Hi, I’m Saachi, a 3rd year Geophysics student and I would love to be the Year 3 Academic Representative!

I have built leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through experiences such as being Student Council President for multiple years. I am also currently an ESE ambassador and the Undergraduate Representative for the British Geophysical Association - that is to say, I am very passionate about advocating for students and their academic journeys and am well-versed in effective student-staff communication. For example, previously, i have brought about changes to my school's strategic plan, feedback approach, and even organised study space renovations.

Some of my goals as your academic rep are to:

1. Consistently and effectively collect feedback from the students throughout the year

2. Communicate concerns and feedback at SSC meetings in a timely manner so that improvements can be made as soon as possible for our own year as well as future cohorts

3. I am very approachable and ready to discuss any concerns from workloads and teaching to timetabling and assessments - I believe in communicating all concerns to the department, regardless of whether it seems like its not possible to fix

4. I also hope to create more avenues of sharing feedback outside surveys to increase the number of student voices being represented, and giving more people a chance to express their concerns
