Maxence Thomas
Hello everyone,
My name is Maxence (not Thomas — that’s my last name!), and I’m running for Year One Academic Representative.
These speeches can sound cliché, but I’ll skip empty promises and get straight to the point. Like all of you, I’ve only been here five weeks, so I’m still discovering what works and what could be improved. But what matters most isn’t what I want — it’s what we as a cohort want. I’m ready to represent your concerns, give a voice to those who might be hesitant to speak up, and help our year run smoothly.
To stay true to my promise of honesty, here are a few things about me. I’ve served as a class representative for six years, including during sixth form — arguably the most important stage of high-school. I’ve always found it easy to communicate between students and teachers and never shy away from raising issues when needed.
Another reason to vote for me: my personal tutor is Dr Taborda (Mathematics) — the module with the most progress tests and the most influential of our first year (worth 10 credits). Since there will be questions about revision, office hours, or exam scheduling, that connection would really help.
Beyond academics, I’m a people person. Having lived in London for 11 years, I’m happy to help anyone adjusting to life here. I’m French, English, speaking some Spanish and re-learning Chinese !
Thank you for reading — I hope to be of help to you all.
