Hi, I'm Claire and I'm running to be your Welfare Representative because I want us to thrive, not just survive throughout medical school.
A bit about me: I'm from Manchester and I'm a 1st-generation medic - so I understand how challenging it can be to balance academic demands, external pressures, and career planning. I want to make sure that each one of us feels supported in making the most of our medical school experience.
Here's my vision for our year:
COFFEE WITH CLINICIANS: With so much happening in medicine today, I want to create opportunities for future‑planning with leading doctors — a relaxed, conversational series where students can ask about career paths, finding balance, and lessons learned along the way, bridging the gap between students and mentors.
AN OPEN LINE OF COMMUNICATION: Why do we wait for forms to open to give feedback? I’d introduce a year-round, anonymous feedback system where students can safely share their experiences, concerns, or suggestions at any time. Updates and actions would be communicated regularly, so you can see how your input is shaping our medical school.
REST, RESET, RECHARGE: From sports days to creative workshops, everyone needs a chance to unwind, connect, and recharge. I’ll make it easy to find existing wellbeing events and collaborate to create new opportunities that suit our year’s needs.
Sounds like the year you want? Remember to vote CLAIRE for Welfare Rep
