Abigail Tan

Hi everyone! My name is Abigail Tan and I am running to be Chair of LMAP society!

LMAP has been something that interests me especially in second year, especially with the focus on public health and the various aspects of population health. Having had a summer job in population health, I learnt how to curate educational materials on health coaching and motivational interviewing, and seen it applied in real-life during health screenings where people were encouraged to work on modifiable risk factors (eg diet, exercise, smoking).

Hence, I aim to channel this interest of mine to create more educational opportunities within LMAP society. As the LMAP exam is something new for second years, I aim to start a crash course series for LMAP as well as provide an LMAP mock. Furthermore, I would continue the global health series for BSc and aim to continue the teaching series with public health doctors as well as community organisations for LMAP society, as public health is a field that benefits many in the wider community.

Having been Vice President for iPRAS and HaemSoc and Head of Media for Cardiovascular Society this year, I am familiar with the workings behind running a society and have gained invaluable leadership skills. I would be glad to transfer these skills to serve as the educational officer for LMAP society, especially with the vision that I see for us.
