Suraubi Rajendra
Hi! I am Suraubi and I am running for education officer of LMAP society this year! Lifestyle medicine is the foundation of long-term health. With several non-communicable diseases on the rise, prevention is just as important as treatment. Although lifestyle factors and non-pharmacological measures have repeatedly proven to be effective in preventing and managing medical conditions, they are often underemphasised, and I believe now should be a point of change.
As JAS lead for Surgical society, I have successfully recruited tutors, coordinated structured teaching and ensured delivery of tutorials. This experience has given me opportunities to liaise with several medical students to enhance student engagement which I believe are key skills that I can bring to a similar role as LMAP education officer. My numerous roles in tutoring both within medical school and outside of university has given me ample experience in selecting qualified and appropriate tutors for LMAP tutorials.
My vision for LMAP society:
- Cased based tutorials on lifestyle interventions
- Creating an SBA/ VSAQ series for medical students
- Ensuring that students do not leave LMAP with second year exams, by giving educational content to cover all students
- A new series where detailed infographics and promotional sheets are created to summarise key principles of lifestyle medicine
As future healthcare professionals, we should be equipped to prevent disease more than just treat them.
Vote for me as Education officer because best practice is achieved with prevention and let that start here!
