Prabhas Vedagiri

Hi! You probably know me as your friendly neighbourhood departmental academic rep. If not, let me reintroduce myself! I am Prabhas and I'm running to be DoCSoc's academic events coordinator next year. Here are some of the ideas I had in mind:

• More (and better) deep dives! I'll aim to improve the deep dive learning experience, making it more accessible, interactive and include challenges and prizes🏆.
• Create structured talk series. One hour at lunch is just not enough to learn in-depth about a topic. Refactoring individual deep dives into multiple sessions and workshops (in some cases) will be conducive to learning and employability.
• Organise talks by tech entrepreneurs / alumni. One major thing missing in DoC is the ability to convert a great idea into a great business. Exposure to experienced entrepreneurs and advice from alumni is one step forward in promoting innovation.
• More bubble tea🧋! (this one's for you Callum - iykyk)
• And of course, having been a student rep twice, I will most of all rely on your feedback for how to make DoCSoc even better.

As dep rep, I have great connections with members of staff and the knowhow to organise any kind of academic event. The best part of being on committee though is the financial freedom to organise any type of event, even if it's not related to your role. Given two years of prior experience on DoCSoc committee, I can't wait to listen to all your ideas on what we can do next.
