DoCSoc: Academic Events Coordinator

Hey everyone! I'm Donald, currently second year Computing. Having attended several DoCSoc events and being a long-term volunteer/organiser for IC Hack 24 and 25 (smiling happily in the attached photo!), I feel like it's time to step up and contribute more actively with the greater DoCSoc community beyond just ICHack.

Why me? Besides IC Hack, I bring leadership experience as co-director at a student charity (on committee for two years), and I'm also a 1st year UTA. All these roles and responsibilities demonstrate my efficiency, communication and organisational skills, no matter inside or outside of Imperial.

What would I do? Whilst social events form a big part of DoCSoc activities, it is as important to have the academic events done right too.

  • 101 series (e.g. Rust 101, Internships 101) and bringing back DoCSoc Deep Dive - these are all great opportunities for our members to learn more outside the current curriculum, and understand where their interests lie in; and most importantly, prepare everyone for the workplace!
  • New career-based workshops. There's not much information on how to actually prepare for online assessments or technical interviews, and for many, starting this journey could be quite daunting. That's where DoCSoc should step in - getting insights and input from the higher-year students and industry professionals.
  • More member input - ultimately, the talks/workshops are for you, so tell us what you want and we can make it happen!

Make your vote count - together, we build a better DoCSoc to serve you!
