Anab Aideed
Hi, my name is Anab Aideed, and I am a third-year medical student passionate about Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) and student welfare. I am running for Welfare Officer because I want to ensure that every student involved in PHEM has access to the support they need to navigate the challenges that come with experiencing pre-hospital and emergency care.
Through my participation in the Ambulance Observer Programme, I have witnessed firsthand the intense and often emotionally challenging situations that pre-hospital medicine involves. Exposure to high-stress environments, major trauma cases, and difficult patient interactions can be both rewarding and overwhelming. I understand the importance of having a safe space to reflect, debrief, and process these experiences, and I want to create an environment where students feel supported throughout their journey in PHEM.
If elected, I plan to:
🚑 Organise a dedicated end-of-programme event – allowing students from the ambulance observer and major trauma programmes to come together, share experiences, and receive guidance on managing the emotional impact of pre-hospital work.
🚑 Improve access to welfare resources – ensuring students are aware of the mental health and support services available to them, both within the university and externally.
🚑 Promote a culture of openness and peer support – encouraging discussions about the challenges of PHEM and reducing the stigma around seeking help.
Thank you for your time!
