Aaron Dhiman
My name is Aaron Dhiman, a first year medical student.
Coming to Imperial College London, Sikh Society was one of the main student bodies that I looked forward to having an active role in. I soon realised how small in numbers we were, but in Sikhi this is nothing new to the panth. Not only do I intend on fulfilling my roles as a publicity officer, but I also hope to introduce a number of events to make our society even more tight-knit.
After attending Sikh Education Council sessions run by Harwinder Singh (currently on week 10/15), I feel like I am well equipped in pursuing this goal. Talking to other London Sikh Society members has given me a few ideas on events that can be hosted, such as bringing back Sikh Society debates, perhaps hoping to introduce Gurmukhi lessons and even conducting a few Shabad analyses and dissecting different translations! These are just a few ideas to help strengthen our panth.
Currently, I hope to encourage faculty to introduce Punjabi onto the Horizons courses being offered to students, or at least understanding the process that this requires for potential future projects that the society can work on.
Overall, I understand that the role involves social media content creation which needs both sensitivity and punctuality, but I hope to be part of much more than that.
Thank you.
