Students for Global Health: Early Years and Outreach Officer
What is Global Health to you? To me, it represents critical needs and opportunities to drive meaningful change.
As SfGH Early Years and Outreach Officer, I will expand our capacity to tackle health inequalities, especially through integrating non-health focused but impactful groups.
My Experiences:
- KCL Nutrition & Dietetics BSc → IC Global Health Management MSc
- Science + Clinical + Business:
- Worked in the NHS + biotech startup + with leading nutrition/ public health researchers.
- Networks across the UK, France, and China.
- Leadership & Collaboration: ex-President of KCL Nutrition Society, led to Gold Accreditation through partnerships including Widening Participation team.
- Health Advocacy: Authored newsletters for 4000+ nutrition students/ professionals • Presented at BAPEN conference, to improve healthcare students’ understanding of malnutrition • Worked in KCL Inclusive Education Project for marginalised groups.
Objectives for us:
1. Connect with those who impact Global Health & interdisciplinary collaboration:
- Health and innovation conferences (AI in healthcare, sustainability), engaging engineering/ business/ tech students.
- Global Health Hackathon, fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Simulation of the World Health Assembly.
2. Connect with those affected by Global Health & integrate intersectionality:
- Intersectionality in Health series with expert speakers, exploring inequities, including in conflict zones.
3. Support our students’ journeys:
- Mentorship to connect with professionals/alumni for career guidance.
- Advocacy Bootcamp to develop campaigning skills, including media use and policy brief writing.
Global health has different meanings for everyone. In the SfGH committee, I will ensure we inspire and support you through accessible opportunities across disciplines. We can all impact Health!
