Yashwin Shyam
Hi everyone! My name is Yashwin and I am a 2nd year medical student running for chair.
In the current world, where Respiratory health is so key to human health and medicine, Respiratory medicine is a field with so much of growth and interest. I feel like students in general seem to have a pre-defined opinion that Respiratory medicine is tough and hard to work in but as chair, I want to break this thought process and make this society bigger.
My plan is:
- Improving the Respiratory conference through interactive workshops, competitions and poster presentations
- Introduce Respiratory Society tutorials through introducing in person and online version of tutorials for early years and creating one on one drop in sessions for students
- Creating a Respiratory society booklet containing important information for exams along with question
- Introducing a mentorhsip scheme - students can have one on one meeting with world class researchers
- Collaborating with the cardio society - for cardiorespiratory events
More about me:
I’m Yashwin and I have previously been chair of my school council, so I have honed my leadership skills which puts me in a good position to take this role . I am also part of a Respiratory research team at St. Mary's Hospital which gives me access to world class researchers and consultants in the field
In conclusion, as chair, I am committed to make this society bigger and unleash the true potential this society has through new innovative and inspiring ideas.
