I would like to get involved with the work of MSF early on in my medical career. With the current political climate, I feel that establishing my priorities within Medicine (providing access and building community links) has become substantially more important to me and feels more pertinent than ever. I am passionate about establishing links and connections (whether on an individual or wider societal level) and in my event co-ordination I would pursue this mentality, prioritising collaborative work with other societies, such as the ICSM fashion show and wider National Conferences with MSF involvement. The diverse pools of people that work alongside MSF is a very exciting prospect for me, and I would want to take full advantage.
In terms of experience, during sixth form, I chaired and co-founded the Consent and Respect committee. I organised an inter-school symposium on wider issues surrounding Relationships and Sex Education. This involved strong organisational skills and good communication with heads of schools, teachers, pastoral heads and students themselves to get everyone on the same page and ensure their support. We also instituted PSHE curriculum changes for younger students, and I received an award for outstanding contribution to the community. I also have experience catering and helping to run events in the hospitality industry. These roles taught me dedication and commitment, alongside strong communication, organisation and time management skills, and I would love to be given the opportunity to use these strengths as an Events Co-ordinator for FoMSF.
