Climate Entrepreneurs: Industrial Liaison Officer

Stepping into the role of Head of Sponsorship for the CEC, I bring a passion for fostering entrepreneurship and cultivating the next wave of climate-focused startups. Building on the current committee's inspiring work, my focus is as follows:

  1. Multi-year sponsorships and broader outreach: Renew partnership with current investors and securing sponsorship from UK-based VC firms. I will refine pitch decks and enhance corporate outreach strategies to optimise the existing sponsorship framework

  2. More accessible funding and education: Expand the funding for the Accelerator Programme beyond the current prize money system, as well as foster connections with successful VCs to educate the cohort with cash flow management and budgeting via workshops

  3. Structured annual spending plan: Maximise the impact of sponsor contributions by directing funds toward strategic initiatives such as more networking events (e.g. Partner’s Dinner) and increasing the Accelerator’s cohort size

My previous role as External Liaison Officer of Imperial College Malaysian Society reflects my ability to drive impactful sponsorships and expand networks. During my tenure, I spearheaded corporate and affiliate relations for one of Imperial’s largest CSPs; increasing funding by 270% from 9 partners and sponsors while hosting numerous career events.

My venture into the realm of entrepreneurship as an FIG intern at Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund has also endowed me with a seasoned perspective to venture capital. During my internship, I had the privilege of speaking to founders of Series A to D challenger banks, digital lending and insurtech firms, with a particular focus on the dynamic APAC region.
