Gastroenterology & Hepatology : Education Officer

Hi everyone, my name is Sruthi (4th year medic) and I would love to be Education Officer for Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society next year!

Over the past few years, I feel priveleged to have had the opportunity to participate in many of the fantastic events this society has put on - particularly the ICA tutorials which have supported me immensely over the course of the past year! Through my experience of the Gastro & Hep BSc and my time on placements in gastroenterology and hepatology, I have developed a strong interest in this speciality.

Having held the roles of IDSoc Chair and IDSoc Early Years Officer in the past, I believe I have been able to develop the organisational, teamwork and leadership skills required for the role of Education Officer of Gastro & Hep Society. Furthermore, I have a passion for medical education - having previously led and organised tutorials with IDSoc, Paediatrics Society and ICOGS. I have also been a CPA tutor in the past.

I would love to work with other committee members next year to support the growth of this society! My goals for the next year would include:

To continue and expand on educational series e.g. ICA tutorials, OSCE and PACES teaching,
To expand on academic support through creating a existing notebank and release of weekly SBAs
To create mentorship schemes to guide students with an interest in the speciality and offer opportunities for engagement in research
To introduce social events to encourage collaborative learning
