Yun Hui Tan

Hi everyone! My name is Abigail / Yun Hui and I am running for Palliative Care Officer of Oncology society. Oncology is a field that holds dear to me; several family members of mine have been through cancer with some terminal cases. I was deeply involved in caregiving previously, visiting them in hospital regularly, helping to reconfigure the home to ensure their safety, and helping to make plans/ decisions on palliative care. The pain and suffering of my family, and my anguish at episodes are still raw to me, therefore I hope to give back and enhance the lives of people who require palliative care.

As Palliative Care Officer, I aim to contribute to the running of events/ conferences of OncoSoc as a whole. In addition, I aim to work with OncoSoc to raise awareness for those requiring palliative care, and provide aid to them eg fundraisers or ward visitations, etc.

I was on subcommittee for iPRAS and Surgical Society, where I helped to acquire items needed for conferences and helped with the set-up/ cleanup. I believe my experience in organising conferences will be an asset to OncoSoc.

This year, I am the female lead character in the Singapore Society musical, and I have performed at multiple events for ICSM Choir and Chamber Choir. These performance gigs have honed my confidence and have taught me the value of constant self-improvement and time-management, which are key qualities for a leader.
