Society of Research and Academia: Research Officer

Hi everyone, I’m Vaishaanth, running for Research Officer.

My passion for research stems from its role in expanding scientific knowledge. I first entered research in high school, where I developed a novel approach to filtering water using water materials, winning the Silver Award at the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair. I built upon that experience through my internship in cardiovascular genetics at ASTAR in Singapore.

I have held numerous leadership positions, being Events Lead of MedTech, where I successfully organized the inaugural ‘Introduction to Python and Machine Learning' workshop. Additionally, I am the Networking Officer of Doctorpreneurs, where I connected with leaders in the MedTech space and invited a few down for our workshops and conference. Furthermore, my time serving national service in the Singapore Armed Forces allowed me to interact with and understand people from different cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds, working harmoniously with them. I’ve also liaised with other army units in the proper handover of logistics, for the smooth running of training. These experiences have honed my leadership skills significantly, allowing me to navigate uncertainties with great clarity and confidence.

As Research Officer, I hope to achieve these:

  1. Maintain a good selection of research projects within the society
  2. Reach out to researchers across different fields (clinical and basic science across multiple topics) to set up more projects for members

I am a diligent person, who will give my best in everything I do. As such, I hope you vote me as your next Research Officer. Thank you!
