Orlando Zhang

Hi everyone! My name is Orlando Zhang and I am currently a second year MSc Mathematics student with a passion for trading and research. During my time at Imperial, I was fortunate enough to meet many people, through friends or societies, educating me on the intricacies of different finance roles and the necessary skills and preparation to succeed within the industry. Hence, I hope to contribute and help out other students who were in my position.

Having already helped out with the organisation of many recent FinSoc events, I wish to further contribute in the role of Vice President - Global Markets. My main goals are to inform students about the industry, help them secure internships, especially for the roles of sales, trading and research and to find more company sponsorships.

Since having completed an Equity Research Internship at a hedge fund called Systematica Investments and secured another as a Quantitative Trader Intern at IMC Trading this summer, I want to share my knowledge and expertise to help members in strengthening their own applications.

Coming from a STEM focused university, I believe it is important to teach our students about the industry and provide as many tools and opportunities to succeed and gain invaluable information as possible through the organisation of:

• Introductory talks
• Careers advice sessions
• CV and interview workshops
• Collaboration with other university societies and companies for networking sessions and insight events
