Neuroscience: Conference Chair

Hi, I'm Daniel, and I am a 2nd year medical student. I would love to be the conference chair for the Meeting of the Minds (MOTM) conference next year.

I find neuroscience intellectually stimulating, especially topographic organisation, and how the organisation of the brain correlates with functions and pathologies. Attending the 2023 MOTM conference further sparked my interest in neurology, and motivates me to help with this conference.

Currently, I am Academic Rep for Phase 1b (year 2) of ICSM, which has developed my organisation skills, as I have to manage several things. This includes analysing student feedback; distribution and analysis of a survey; coordinating meetings with individual faculty members; presenting to the school of medicine constructive criticism. This will benefit for the role as conference chair because this position requires lots of communication on room booking, event budgeting with the treasurer, risk assessments, equipment, & more.

Furthermore, I am secretary for GP Society and also Nutritank Society. I have helped out with the conference organisation with both societies, and have learnt from both committees. However, I look forward to learning even more about this role!

My aims include maintaining the solid structure of the conference. I thoroughly enjoyed the brain dissection, and would prioritise this slightly more. Clinical application of modern technology fascinates me, as well as the presentation of neurological cases, so would aim to highlight these; combining speakers invested in research &/or interactive clinical cases with clinicians would be very engaging for many attendees.

Thank you!
