Women in Business: Internal/Alumni Manager

Hi everyone! My name is Sabrina Cruz, I’m a First Year Medical Biosciences Student running for the Internal/Alumni Manager position in the Women in Business society.

Entering the business sector, especially fields such as investment banking and consultancy, is extremely difficult, but having connections with people in that career helps tremendously. Imperial has an incredible array of alumni who have experience in a vast range of fields, sectors and industries. As Internal/Alumni Manager, I wish to foster and nurture connections between alumni and current students to help students reach and achieve their goals.

In this position, I plan to organise more networking events with Imperial alumni and, hopefully, postgraduate students undergoing further study. It is important to talk to people at different stages of life, whether graduate school or working, just to gauge what is important to achieve at those various stages, that will lead to the desired goal. Furthermore, I would like to put more of a focus on mentorship relations between alumni and undergraduates as this will help them to understand the responsibilities of particular careers and if they are a right fit for the position.

Additionally, as I am currently tutoring whilst studying, I believe that I am equipped with the necessary skills of organization and time-management to fulfill this role to a high standard.

I hope that through reading my manifesto, you can see my passion for this role and choose to elect me as your next Internal/Alumni Manager. Thank you!
