Hey, I’m Moyin! I’m a first year Physics student and I want to be YOUR ACS Vice President of Events! Being a part of ACS has helped me greatly during first year and I want to pay it forward if elected as VP Events. I believe that we can elevate ACS to be a more inclusive and vibrant community by increasing and diversifying events throughout the year.
If elected, I'll introduce more tailored casual events like Sports Night, Book Club, and Study Sessions, along with external activities like skating and bowling, while increasing collaborations with other cultural societies to enrich the cultural landscape at Imperial, featuring games nights, debates, and networking events. To foster inclusivity and support within the black community at Imperial, I will work on the implementation of an International Women’s Day event celebrating black women in STEM, increased community outreach, welfare nights and an ACS union takeover.
I will implement termly event calendars and save the dates to maximise attendance, and frequent member forums so with the rest of the committee we can work on events you want to see. I'll also ensure the continuation of flagship events like Afrogala, Chop Chop, and Black Ascent.
With experience in event planning, from assisting in organising church, community, and family gatherings and parties to co-chairing my school’s first Cultural Week (which the headteacher called the highlight of his time at the school), I possess strong organisation, teamwork, creativity and leadership skills.
