Malaysian: External Liaison Officer

Stepping into university and thinking about a career plan is daunting, yet exciting. I'd like to leverage my experience to ensure ICUMS members are better equipped to move forward in their journey - be it professionally or personally.

My experience as the External Relations representative for the Imperial Energy Idea Challenge has given me invaluable insights into effectively engaging with company representatives and fostering strong corporate relationships. Additionally, my role as the HR lead at Young Malaysian Engineers provided me with hands-on experience in organising company engagement events. Furthermore, my experience in leading and participating in various group projects highlights my leadership and teamwork skills, vital for the External Liaison Officer role.

There are three main areas I'd like to address: Alumni, Awareness and Engagement, and Sponsors.

  • Alumni: Further leveraging the alumni network via the Imperial College Alumni Association Malaysia (ICAAM).
  • Awareness and Engagement: Increase awareness of opportunities and projects offered by different societies (e.g. Imperial Consulting Group (ICG), London Strategic Consulting (LSC), or QT Capital), and increase sponsor awareness and participation rate by holding more career/sharing sessions.
  • Sponsors: Securing or re-establishing connections with STEM sponsors, or up-ranking current STEM sponsors - increasing STEM-related opportunities.

My vision is to transform ICUMS into a networking and up-skilling hub, and this requires working in synergy with committee members. I believe my experience and passion for driving impactful change make me a strong candidate for the External Liaison Officer position. The specifics of my plan are in my internal manifesto.

Thank you for your consideration.
