Devangi Vyas

Hello! I’m Devangi Vyas, a second year medic running for dermatology society chair this year. Dermatology has been more than just a field of study for me - it’s been a lifelong journey that has shaped my experiences, aspirations and passion for making a difference. I was born with extreme atopic dermatitis and as a young child anxious about my health I first delved into the field by investigating skin-conditions and their triggers. My personal journey fuels my dedication to advancing the field and here's an outline of my vision:

• Enhance educational resources so members develop cutting-edge knowledge in topics beyond the curriculum via workshops, socials and conferences. This enables those with particular interests to cultivate their passions.
• Collaborate with leading experts to facilitate research endeavours and create mentorship programs for members to contribute to dermatology advancements e.g in psycho-dermatology.
• Ensure effective communication within the society fostering a culture of inclusivity and soliciting feedback to inform decision-making.
• Organise research forums and case discussions while strengthening partnerships with other academic/industry institutions for knowledge exchange.
• Help students with graspable academic tutorials - concepts can be difficult and dermatology's often overlooked as it has less content.

Without my derm experiences, I may never have chosen to study medicine and wouldn't be asking you to consider my candidacy today.
